Each day seems to bring a new phone or Internet scam brought by fraudsters looking to steal money from local residents. A lot times, police say, scammers will call and tell you they’re trying to help you pay money you supposedly owe.
If you think someone may have tried to scam you, report it to your local law enforcement agency. Even if you didn’t give them any money, if you gave them some of your personal information, you should contact law enforcement. There are things they can do to protect you from having any money stolen from you and keep them from stealing your identity.
Pennsylvanians who believe they have been victims of a scam should also file a complaint with the Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection by calling 800-441-2555 or emailing email@example.com.
